Vanessa is an American college student pursuing her undergraduate education at The University of Miami, studying Advertising and Graphic Design. She has always expressed interest in fashion, beauty, and magazine publications. Her passion for magazines, and absorption of pop-culture and the contemporary began with reading YM: Your Magazine in 2003. After the publication ended, she found solace in Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and Cosmo! Girl. Over the years she developed new connections to other magazines including Glamour and Elle while exploring some interest in publications like Essence and Vogue. She read, absorbed the messages, and spread the information to her peers. The next month she would grab yet another glossy cover from the rack, anticipating more new and exciting information.
But as Vanessa got older, she got better at critiquing her beloved magazines and understanding the limitations of their messages. She noticed that magazines offer the same repetitive information, sometimes lacking in variety and creativity. Being an intelligent person, who also identifies herself as a young, black, American woman, Vanessa also noticed that her unique issues and interests were underrepresented or improperly represented in the magazine world.
TheStreetFashionista.com is Vanessa’s mission to create and operate her own online publication with her personal and creative vision that rectifies the limitations of the traditional magazines she admires. TheStreetFashionista.com offers advice, entertainment, insight, and information about fashion, beauty, health, business, and other aspects of the lives of young women, from her perspective and through research.
Vanessa’s goal is that TheStreetFashionista.com becomes a powerful, well-respected, and valued publication that reaches millions worldwide.

Readers of TheStreetFashionista are young women ages 16 to 24. She is interested in developing her personal style and beauty routine but also wants to learn more about and explore the industries. She is educated and likes to shop, and she takes pride in her look, whether it be bright makeup, polished nails, high fashion hair, or trend driven clothes. She is not afraid to stand out in a crowd and be unique, but also respects and tries the latest trends. She lives at any spot on the globe. She has an opinion and knows how to express it tactfully and tastefully, and seeks out information that can probe her mind and inspire her own creativity and drive.
